According to a Vogue article I was just reading "an estimated 100 billion items of clothing are made each year for a global population of 7.8 billion people. Around 20% goes unsold, and cast-offs may be incinerated or landfilled." Especially now, while we are forced to slow down and evaluate our purchases, I think it's so important to take a look at the environmental impact that our purchases are having.
Sweat Goddess is a purely a Print on Demand model. What this means is that nothing is produced or made until your order is received, thus producing only what is necessary without any waste. What if more companies worked in this capacity? According to Iris Van Herpen, in another Vogue article I was reading (can you tell what I have been devouring lately? LOL)...the future of fashion just might be headed in this direction. Relying on technology and new print and manufacturing methods to reduce the waste that the fashion industry has contributed to.
I love that we are able to produce only what is needed and what you guys want, rather then ordering in bulk and hope it gets purchased. This also allows for easy designing, and launching of new collections!! Would love to know what you guys think about this! Leave a comment below.
